Artistic Nuances -
Jade Blaney is a professional Canadian artist (who happens
to be my sister), who has explored a variety of media over the years and
is currently working with acrylic watercolour on paper. Jade is also a greeting
card illustrator and the author and illustrator of a series of children’s
books.
“I deliberately focus on a main subject in my watercolours, (a result of
my love for and study of Chinese art), then use layers of wash to try to get
the colours to “sing,” rather than aim for pure realism. I like to
add interesting little side elements to my subjects and will often include a
dash of whimsy.”
